| College of Adult and Continuing Education
For more than forty years, the adult education programs at SSPU have won a high reputation in Shanghai by cultivating a large number of outstanding engineers, technicians and managerial personnel, and have been awarded two honorable titles by national leaders: the "Red Banner of the Nation¡¯s Part-work and Part-study Colleges" and the "File leader of the Adult Education Battle Line". The SSPU College of Adult and Continuing Education was founded in July 2002, with the responsibility of administrating both adult¡¯s degree programs and non-degree programs.
The college possesses a built-up area of 7,000 square meters, 9 laboratories and 650 computers.
The college offers more than 40 degree programs with the areas of Science and Engineering, Liberal Arts and Languages; at the levels of Junior College (Vocational Higher Learning), Undergraduate Study for High School Graduates, Undergraduate Study for Junior College Graduates, and Graduate Courses; using the modes of Part-time Classes and Full-time Classes. After implementing a complete Educational Quality Assurance System, the college has been award the title of ¡°National Advanced Adult Education Unit¡± by both the Ministry of Education and the China Adult Education Association.
In respect to the non-degree education, the college is playing a very important role in serving the society; for instance, the college¡¯s Entrepreneur Training program and Charity Education Training program has significantly supported the fulfillment of Shanghai Government¡¯s two major tasks, i.e. helping university students¡¯ new start-ups and re-employment of the laid off workers. 95% of the graduates for the Sino-Australia Joint ¡°International Business¡± program have been employed or studied abroad. As the all-the-year-round ¡°Shanghai Computer Application Proficiency Test Center¡±, the ¡°Shanghai Training Base for Teachers of Tertiary Vocational Education¡±, the ¡°Shanghai Training Base for Teachers of Adult Education¡±, the ¡°Shanghai Training Base for Teachers of Chinese-foreign Cooperative Vocational Education¡±, and the ¡°Key National Training Base for Teachers of Tertiary Vocational Education¡±, the college offers many training programs to teachers from Shanghai and all over China. |
