| International Exchange Faculty
The SSPU International Exchange Faculty was founded in June 2002, whose predecessor was two cooperation projects between China and Australia: Queensland College at Shanghai Second Polytechnic University and Holmes Cooperation Project at Shanghai Donghu Vocational & Technical College. Through international cooperation, International Exchange Faculty is committed to introducing the advanced education philosophy, teaching resources and modes of training from other countries, propelling the innovating and deepening process of the university¡¯s educational reform, and enhancing the university¡¯s internationalization level and operation performance.
The faculty comprises International Business Department, Event Management Department, English Department, and Computer Teaching and Research Section. The faculty is running the Shanghai- Queensland sister-city education cooperation project ¨C Queensland College, which includes seven joint diploma programs, such as International Business, Business English, Event Planning and Management, and Hospitality Management. The faculty has 32 staff members, among whom 19 are teachers; 42% of the teachers are professors and associate professors, and 74% hold Master's degrees. In the meantime, the faculty has a highly efficient bilingual management team, and more than ten experienced Australian teachers rich in industry experience teach in this faculty throughout each school year. At present, the faculty enrolls 1035 students.
Aiming at the practical personnel requirements for the development of Shanghai international metropolitan economy, the faculty is focusing on introducing advanced educational resources, conducting localization practice with unique features, and innovating new training modes. Its goal of training multi-skilled practical personnel characterized by ¡°English competency + vocational competencies + operational competency in the business context¡± has got positive market recognition by the high job placement rates (above 97%) of its college graduates in recent consecutive years. In addition, In conformity with the tendency of education internalization, the faculty is endeavoring to develop education and training programs for international students and make a significant contribution to the enhancement of the university¡¯s internationalization level and operation performance. |
