| School of Humanities
The SSPU School of Humanities was founded in July 2002. Its original name was the School of Humanities and Arts, and the current name has been used since the academic restructuring in September 2004. The school currently has 44 staff members including 33 full-time teachers among whom there are 11 professors and associate professors, 21 lecturers and 1 teaching assistant, and enrolls 329 students. The school consists of Administration Department, ¡°Two Courses¡± Teaching Center, and Monita College. The school offers three diploma programs: Secretary, Community Management, and Advertisement Design and Production. The ¡°Two Courses¡± Teaching Center is responsible for Marxism Theory and Ideological and ethical Education teaching for all the university¡¯s students. The Monita College, jointly run by SSPU and Hong Kong Monita International Group, offers a diploma program: Image Design (Cosmetology).
In order to strengthen the leading role of class teaching in ideological and political education for university students, the school is making great effort to construct subjects, curriculum and teaching team. In accordance with the university¡¯s strategic plan and in order to achieve students¡¯ all-round development, the school is striving to enhance the humanistic and scientific consciousness education and facilitate the coordinated intrinsic qualifications growth of students¡¯ ideology and ethics, science and culture, and health. Under the new framework based on the subjects of Public Administration and News Dissemination, the school is continually designing new programs according with society¡¯s demands including Advertisement Design and Production, and Image Design.
The school has established Corporate Culture Institute and Humanities Education Institute. In recent years, the school has undertaken 6 provincial government funded projects, and has published more than one hundred papers and many books. |
