| School of Electronic & Electrical Engineering
The School of Electronic and Electrical Engineering is one of the earliest founded schools at SSPU. The school consists of the Department of Communication and Information, the Department of Automation, the Department of Electronic Engineering, the Department of Opto-Electronic Information, and the Fundamentals and Experiment Section. The school currently has 64 staff member including 44 teachers, among whom there are 3 professors and 17 associate professors£»40% of the teachers hold Master¡¯s degrees or Doctor¡¯s degrees. The school currently enrolls approximately 1000 full-time students.
The school offers three undergraduate programs (Automation, Electronic & Information Engineering, and Information Display and Opto-Electronic technology) and five diploma programs (Industrial Automation Technology, Communication and Information Technology, Electrical Technology, Applied Electronic Technology, and Multi-media Information Equipment and Maintenance). The program of ¡°Applied Electronic Technology¡± is a Shanghai Municipal Key Tertiary Vocational program. The course of ¡°Practical Analog Electrical Technology¡± was awarded the title of ¡°Outstanding Network Course¡± by the Ministry of Education. Having established the Energy Conservation Institute and the Optical-Electro-Mechanical Application, the school is aiming at leading edge research in Automation and Electronic & Information Engineering, and research areas in Automatic Control Theory and Technology, Electrical Control Technology, Fault Detection and diagnosis, Signal and Information Processing, Computer Image Processing, and Automatic Test Technology. The school has received research funds of more than a million RMB each year, has published many books, and has been awarded a second prize of Shanghai Municipal Science & Technology Progress Award, and 4 first prizes of Shanghai Municipal Outstanding Teaching Achievement.
The school has established advanced and well equipped training centers both inside and outside the university, and has invested around a million RMB each to build the Shanghai Vocational Education Mechanical and Electronic Training Base. The school¡¯s students have won first, second and thirds prize in recent National College Students¡¯ Electronic Design Contests and National College Students¡¯ Robot Contests. The school has maintained a high students¡¯ job placement rate of above 98% every year. |
